Premier League - City secure Toure signing

The 27-year-old signed a five-year deal to join City from the Spanish champions after completing a medical in Spain.

No official announcement was made about the fee, but the transfer is believed to have cost City £26 million.

Toure's move comes just two days after the £25m signing of David Silva, and with similar-sized deals in the pipeline for Aston Villa's James Milner and Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko it seems City's spending could easily top £100m for the second summer in succession.

The latest move unites Yaya Toure with older brother Kolo, the City skipper, who moved to Eastlands from Arsenal last summer.

"This is another fantastic signing for Manchester City, and I am very pleased Yaya has joined us," said City boss Roberto Mancini.

"Everyone knows Yaya is a player that we have admired for a long time, and we would like to welcome him to Manchester City.

"He has played at the top level with Barcelona and I am sure he his experience and ability will be very important for us."
